2026 ADVOCACY PRIORITIES PLATFORM

The Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce (MVCC)’s advocacy platform has been developed and approved annually by the Board of Directors. It enables the Chamber to respond quickly to issues and proposed legislation as they arise, giving local businesses a voice on local, state and federal issues.

STRATEGIC PRIORITIES

EDUCATION

Support efforts to adequately fund or supplement education at all levels
Support programs that invest in our future workforce, with an emphasis on STEM and language education, to enhance workforce readiness
Support programs that enhance Career Technical Education (CTE)
Support efforts to promote cross-cultural education and inclusion

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Support sustainable, safe, reliable, cost-effective, and diverse energy sources for businesses and communities
Support public policies that will ensure long-term reliability of water supplies
Encourage responsible environmental regulations
Ensure energy infrastructure is resilient in the face of increased climate risk, such as recent wildfires and extreme weather events
Leverage and repurpose existing energy infrastructure to expand the use of renewable resources, such as renewable natural gas and hydrogen, while minimizing consumer disruption and supporting businesses’ preferred equipment and appliances

GOVERNMENT & TAX

Support government functions that enhance private enterprises and Menifee businesses
Support permit streamlining and other methods of cutting business red tape
Support efforts to reduce business taxes and ensure good use of existing taxes
When appropriate, oppose California's business legislation that provides more stringent standards than those of the federal government
Oppose mandates that impose excessive regulation, taxation, or reporting burdens
Oppose efforts that decrease local control and surrender influence to the state or federal government

HEALTHCARE

Support legislation that ensures both a healthy workforce and work environment
Support legislation to allow employers to offer more affordable benefit plans that allow choices in coverage
Support health education and programs that promote healthy lifestyle choices to reduce healthcare costs
Support the development of comprehensive healthcare facilities in Riverside County with local healthcare input
Support measures that promote public health

PUBLIC SAFETY & QUALITY OF LIFE

Support effective enforcement of laws and police efficiency to deter crime and other indications of blight
Support all efforts that enable CalFire, Cal OES, EMS, and other response agencies to protect communities from wildfire, disasters, and other emergencies
Support legislation to improve access to technology for businesses
Support legislation that provides development and funding of community arts programs

LABOR & WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

INFRASTRUCTURE & TRANSPORTATION

Support public policies that will ensure long-term reliability of water supplies
Support local, regional, and statewide efforts to diversify transportation modes, easing shipment of goods and workforce commuting, while reducing congestion and respecting local control and custom needs of Menifee
Support measures that provide local and regional funding opportunities for local transportation and system projects
Promote investment in multimodal transportation (bus, rail, aviation, etc.) that directly benefits local businesses
Support legislation that provides for a more equitable distribution of federal and state highway funds
Engage on measures that attempt to raise or alter federal and/or state revenues for transportation funding and its associated taxes
